Today is a wonderful time to get into the relaxed and fun vibe of warm summer days and long sweet nights. I’m sharing the best and most beautiful ways to decorate for the upcoming season! Here are 30+ tips for summer decorating!
Are you ready to get your home summer-ready with these 30+ amazing ideas? Let’s get started!!!!
PICK SUMMER FLOWERS
Whether you pick a bunch of pretty blooms from your yard, buy them at a local farm stand, or get them from your favorite grocer flowers will make summer come alive on your tabletops and in your home! And don’t be afraid to stop by the side of the road and pick a handful too!
One of my favorite things to do is to buy a big perennial potted plant and pot it and use it indoors. Many perennials are reasonably priced and last far longer than cut flowers! When the flowers are spent I plant the perennial outside so it will bloom every summer! A pretty and smart way to have pretty flowers in your home!
Here’s another look I love! Instead of a big bouquet or arrangement, I like to add just a few summery blossoms in tiny vases is a simple and fresh summer look!
A trio of small vases looks so pretty lined up with just a few blooms in each!
CREATE A SUMMER VIGNETTE
Shop your home and find a few items that remind you of summer and create a vignette!
It’s a great time to be patriotic. Start now to have a pretty patriotic vignette for summer!
Create something in red, white, and blue!
And for Memorial Day weekend and around July 4th add some small American flags to your patriotic vignette.
Almost every morning you will find me with a cup of coffee walking my gardens and checking out my big pots of flowers and herbs to see what flowers are ready to be picked and brought inside to add to the vases of garden flowers I already have in our home.
Brighten up a room with flowers from a garden. I tend to like small hand-picked arrangements.
It’s a lovely summer morning ritual! I also change the water in the vases of flowers and throw away flowers that are beyond their prime.
I like to put these small arrangements where I will see them. On my desk, next to the coffee maker and next to the chair I sit in to watch tv.
ADD WHITE OR LIGHT-COLORED ACCENTS
White is a great accent for summer decor! It’s fresh and clean and has a cooling effect! Choose a few white accent pieces no matter what your decor and see how they take the sizzle out of summer heat and make a room look gorgeous!
If white is not your thing try light neutral colors! Light colors give the feeling of feeling cool and airy.
Swap our dark and or heavy pillows for ones that are more summery!
Or try a new color and new patterned pillow. These vintage-looking green floral pillows were new last summer. They are a pretty different look that works with all the green plants in my summer great room.
I just got them out and added them to our living room.
Speaking of pillows…
DECORATE OUTDOOR SPACES WITH PILLOWS TO
Use indoor/outdoor pillows on your patio or rockers or other outdoor chairs. They dress up an area and can make it look and feel more like a “living space”.
CLEAN UP AND GET YOUR PORCH, PATIO, OR ANY OTHER OUTDOOR LIVING SPACE
Now is also the time to get outdoor living spaces scrubbed clean of all the dirt and such that winter left behind.
We take everything off of our patio and set it out in the yard. Then we spray down the entire patio including the ceilings, clean the glass french doors, and head to the yard to give every piece of furniture a good scrub.
Once everything is dry we put all the furnishings back and start decorating!
Oh, I love having a pretty clean patio and porch ready to start the summer season!

SET A PRETTY TABLE
Summer is a great time to entertain and have family and friends over for a meal. When the weather is nice you can find us out on our back patio but even when the temps tickle 100 degrees and the humidity drips off my nose I’m still ready for summer dinners at home… but inside!
Those laid back long summer evenings were made for great dinners and pretty tables!
Set a casual table for dining al fresco!
Or set a simple but more elegant table for inside!
I’m a fan of great melamine and plasticware. Give it a second look, you will be amazed!
PLANT CONTAINER GARDENS
I’m a huge fan of container gardens. When I was younger I had big veggie gardens in raised beds, herb gardens, and lots of flower beds. Although I loved those days, I like my container gardens even better!
Container gardens are so easy to take care of! A couple of my secrets to success are great soil and self-watering containers when possible.
Grab a pretty container and fill it with flowers or herbs! I know you will love how easy they are to take care of and the bounty they grow for you to use!
